Biobased Industry Outlook Conference
August 29-30, 2005
Iowa State University - Ames, IA
Victor Lin
As an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Iowa State University, Victor Lin specializes in the design and construction of multi-functionalized heterogeneous catalysts with unique nanoporous structures for highly selective catalysis and biorenewable applications. Additionally, he studies the synthesis of biocompatible nanomaterial-based sensory and controlled release delivery systems to study intercellular chemical communications.
In addition to his teaching duties at the University, Lin is also a senior scientist with Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy facility. He has published 71 articles and two book chapters, and has received four patents. Lin has received a number of awards for his work, including a National Science Foundation CAREER award in 2002 and a LAS award for Early Achievement in Research/Artistic Creativity in 2004 at Iowa State. He serves on the organizing committee of the Rocky Mountain Conference on Analytical Chemistry and chaired the Nanotechnology Symposium in 2003 and 2004. Lin received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania.
