Matt Janes

Matt Janes is Vice President Technology of VeraSun Energy. In this role, he leads the team responsible for the construction of VeraSun's 110 MGY ethanol plant in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and directs the company’s new project and technology development initiatives. Previously, he was responsible for the construction and start-up of VeraSun's 100 MGY Aurora, South Dakota, ethanol plant.

Janes brings over 25 years of experience in the ethanol industry to his current role. Prior to joining VeraSun, he was Vice President Technology for Commercial Alcohols Inc., where he was responsible for the construction and start-up of the Chatham ethanol plant, a 40 MGY ethanol plant. Janes began his career with Seagram's Distillers Ltd. as a production manager at the historic Waterloo, Ontario, distillery.

Janes graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry, specializing in Biochemistry and Microbiology. He received a Diploma in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a graduate of the Executive Development Program at the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
